FAQ

1. How to get there

Ilhabela is located on the northern coast of São Paulo state and is accessed via the city of São Sebastião, followed by a short ferry crossing to the island.

From São Paulo/GRU Airport (International Arrivals)

Direct service from the airport to Ilhabela, including coordination with the ferry crossing. This is the most reliable and time-efficient option, especially for international visitors, and can be arranged during the registration process.

Buses depart from São Paulo to São Sebastião. When booking your ticket, select São Sebastião Rodoviária as your destination.

We recommend purchasing your ticket in advance. However, if you prefer, tickets can also be purchased at the Viação Pássaro Marron ticket office at São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport. Both the ticket office and the boarding area for passengers who have already purchased tickets are located at Terminal 2 – East (Arrivals area).

You may remain on the bus until the final stop at São Sebastião Bus Terminal, which is approximately a 10-minute walk from the Ilhabela ferry terminal (“balsa”). Alternatively, if you prefer to get off closer to the ferry, the driver usually announces the stop near the ferry terminal, and you may also request in advance that they notify you when it is time to disembark.

From there, cross by ferry to Ilhabela (pedestrian access available).

From São Paulo/Congonhas Airport (Domestic Arrivals)

Select the transfer option during registration and travel from Congonhas to Guarulhos International Airport to join the organized transfer to Ilhabela.

If you arrive at Congonhas Airport, we recommend purchasing your bus ticket in advance and traveling from the airport to the Tietê Bus Terminal by taxi or Uber, where you can board a bus to São Sebastião Rodoviária.
